It’s only right that I see 2022 out with some of my favourite images of the year for our last blog post before 2023 rolls around!
This sensational shoot for F Word Mag with photographer and director Asia Werbel is positively dripping with her creative style. Collaborating with Asia is always so unconventional and fun, it’s really exicting to push the boundaries outside of everyday beauty together.
Titled DYSTOPIA, the imagery explores the world of single use plastics and represents the smoothering effects they have on our planet. A poignant note to consider as we step into a fresh year with bright eyes and celebration, let us not forget it’s also a new beginning to make better choices as stewards of the earth.
Considering the subject matter of the shoot, I felt drawn to the idea of spheres: the circle of life, the circle of the earth, the circle of nature and the endless circle of plastic waste. With this inspiration in mind I picked up my brush and got to work. Prepping a simple but perfected canvas I used a combo of Weleda Skinfood for a moistured base and Ariane Poole Cosmetics for flawless complexion. When it came to bringing in the circles of colour I wanted that gave a strong impact, that’s why I chose Colorfix Mattes, the super pigmented tubes of makeup magic by Danessa Myricks.
