This week I'm sharing with you my work with END. to mark the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1. They were celebrating in style with the 'La Ville-Lumière' release especially for the anniversary and had me on board to create a look for the shoot. They had asked for a soft matte skin base which was perfect play off the harsh urban environment and the energy of these effervescent pastel sneakers.
It was nice to mix things up after playing with a lot of glow and shine in my work lately, so I was excited I got to do a more neutral matte effect. I achieved this by prepping the skin with a delicate...
The sun might be gracing us with plenty of its presence lately, but it certainly wasn't for this Gold Boutique summer shoot back in the end of April! Out on location in the hip area of Newcastle, luckily for us the Ouseburn boasts some super cool graffiti filled arches and walkways that perfectly reflect the intended vibe for the final images. They offered an amazing backdrop and some refuge from the heavens opening before heading to the studio for some close-ups.
When I was considering the make-up I looked over the moodboards I was sent and really felt instantly inspired by the street style...
Another week sharing some fresh kicks with you, this time in the form of the hotly anticipated Nike revamp of the iconic Air Huarache OG to mark 30 years of Tinker Hatfield's iconic running style. World famous among sneakerheads the Scream Green colourway deserved my signature perfected skin treatment to keep that focus on the classic minimalist silhouette that's dripping in 90's vibes.
As the client wanted to keep the skin looking fresh and clear I opted to prep the skin with Shiseido's oil free range. Their Waso Oil Free products are ideal for creating a completely matte finish on the skin...
I have had so many proud moments in my career but this has well and truly hit the top of my list. Over the years I have used and adored Soap Brow whilst I watched West Barn Co, the family run business that produces it, grow from strength to strength. They have really come into their own with some brilliant products for both professional make-up artists and everyday consumers who just love make-up!
For this shoot I was hired by WBCo as they wanted to update their website and social media with some new and exciting products which will be launching soon. Being part of this team and this...
This week's blog is something super fun, it's so cool to look back over at the final product now it's been released. Recently I joined the team over at END. for a shoot paying homage to the phoenix-like resurgence of the OG Nike Dunk throughout 2020.
They've opted to use a yearbook style format to cast each pair in a manner that emulates the varisty nostalgia they so deserve as the 'Class of 2020'. After all 35 years in the making this franchise is still going from strength to strength continuing its legacy and the rich culture behind them. For me my task was to work along side the production...
It was only a couple weeks ago I was asking you to help out with a crowd funder yet here I am back again to do the same, this one's a little different though! Of course I am excited to be part of this team as a make-up artist for the short film, but even more so I am excited about being part of its message.
Did you know that every year 310,000 children have a parent in prision in England and Wales and that 10,000 visits are made by children to our public prisons every week? In 'I am Still Ethan' focus is drawn to the life of a young boy whose father, his idol, is suddenly taken to prison. The film...
As much as I am so happy to be back at work currently, during lockdown I did also love having some time to get my hands stuck into some DIY and decorating my home. From little bits to repainting my sash windows and clearing through all my products to make my home space a happier place! One of my favourite things I finally had the time to do if what I have lovingly named my 'Wall of Fame'. I decided it was time I put some of my accomplishments pride and place up on the wall, so I framed some of my front cover magazine shoots. It fills me with such pride to look at now as it did at the time of doing...
Nisha Halo is an exciting new online handmade jewellery brand by jewellery designer Nisha Postlethwaite. Nisha’s jewellery is influenced by both darkness and light; Nisha's name itself means ‘Night’ and with ‘Halo’ being synonymous with a circle of light and purity, the brand name couldn't be more apt. Her jewellery is ethereal, luminescent and light yet otherwise edgy, hedonistic and mischievous. Her creative process to fuel her jewellery designs are fully inspired by her life experiences, by nature and emotion. When you see a piece of Nisha Halo jewellery you are looking at a piece...
Oliver Smith is an ultra talented writer, director and cinematographer as well as a good friend of mine so today I wanted to have a quick chat about his latest film Spider & Fly and how you can support the project. Using Crowdfunder Ollie is currently raising the funds to get this passion project of the ground and into our screens for your viewing pleasure. If he reaches his goal or hopefully even beyond, I am super excited to say I will have the privilege of doing the make-up! So of course you are thinking I am gonna be a bit biased right? He's my friend after all and I am excited about the work,...
This year has most certainly been one hell of a rollercoaster ride and as individuals we have all had to deal with 2020 in our own personal ways.
For me during lockdown I have learnt family are undoubtedly the most important factor of life. I am so grateful my dear friend Danny Lowe came and took some snaps of us during this strange time to look back on and remember how much we came together. You can see more of his Lockdown Series on my blog! Anyway, this has been a huge personal revelation as a business woman who has had a real tendency to be a workaholic often spending long hours, days,...
