Nisha Halo is an exciting new online handmade jewellery brand by jewellery designer Nisha Postlethwaite. Nisha’s jewellery is influenced by both darkness and light; Nisha's name itself means ‘Night’ and with ‘Halo’ being synonymous with a circle of light and purity, the brand name couldn't be more apt. Her jewellery is ethereal, luminescent and light yet otherwise edgy, hedonistic and mischievous. Her creative process to fuel her jewellery designs are fully inspired by her life experiences, by nature and emotion. When you see a piece of Nisha Halo jewellery you are looking at a piece...
If you are followers of my social media platforms you will notice that I talk a lot about Middleton Lodge and fondly call it my second home!!
For me, Middleton Lodge in North Yorkshire, is a magical home where you feel like Lord and Lady every time you drive up to the front of the Georgian House. It has an amazing presence about the place and truly feels “like home”. For weddings the building has the most impressive windows which, for me as a make-up artist, creates the perfect amount of natural light.
I met Aileen for her pre-wedding make up trial a number of months before the actual...

The inspiration for the make-up came from the Hollywood glamour of 1940’s with the strong emphasis on highlight, contour and sculpting of the cheekbones with strong defined eyes and lips.
The image for the front cover of the magazine was to be printed in black and white but there is one colour to view as well. This enables to see the difference in the depth of application of make-up in colour to enable the look to convert to black and white.

I wanted to share with you a wonderful testimonial from a Bride who i met last year. I worked closely with a talented photographer Claire of Burns Rowatt Photography.
As quoted by the Bride.

SHE PUT US AT EASE FROM OUR INITIAL MEETING AND ‘GOT’ ME AND HOW I WANTED THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHED AND HOW TO MAKE ME LOOK NICE (I'M NOT A DRESS PERSON). AS PART OF THE PACKAGE WE GOT A FREE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT WHICH IS A BRILLIANT IDEA – YOU GET TO SAMPLE HOW IT IS TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED ON THE DAY AND SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. IT WAS ACTUALLY...
First, congratulations. Being engaged is such an exciting time for you. Choosing your wedding dress, finding the perfect venue, which flowers to choose, making sure the bridesmaids look fabulous and oh should you consider having make-up applied professionally for your wedding day?
Getting married in the autumn months or even having a wonderful winter white wedding? Autumn leaves rich colours, of red, taupe, greens, browns and bronzes. Winter colours with crisp whites, silvers, blue, grey hues and even...
I wanted to share with you a vintage inspired two day photo shoot i was involved in at an amazing location Rigwood Manor in Saltburn by the Sea Redcar and Cleveland. I was approached last year by Vicky Trainor vintage stationer and Becky Mitchell photographer who were both excited about a new venture they had planned for this year. Mood boards were emailed across to me and my make-up ideas began for the shoot.
The make-up was inspired by recent magazines and images and after watching many hours and i mean many hours as i had purchased the box set of Mad Men. From...
I was involved on an inspiring photo shoot which was researched by stationer Vicky Trainor and photographer Becky Mitchell Photography.
The look inspired was a soft, vintage vibe based on an old victorian drawing room. Lace table cloths, crochet stationery, japanese china cups supplied by Make-up by Jo (me) from my uncles travels in Japan in the 50's. The amazing flowers amaryllis, roses, jasmine, potted pansies with the amazing soft colours to represent the shoot. The model with her sultry red hair gave the image a twist to the vintage vibe.
The make-up was an inspiration...
Wanted to write about a wedding inbetween Christmas and New Year.
I had met this lovely bride many months ago, the couple live in America and had come to Middleton In Teasdale area for a couple of days to arrange the wedding. The trial was arranged two days before the wedding as that was the only time the bride could make it back to England with living in America. We had exchanged numerous emails and photos/images of the type of make-up she wanted and had discussed in great detail.
The bride wanted a natural look for her wedding, she wanted a small...
