2019 has started and we are already now in the 3rd week of January already, I've been busy getting stuck into a new year of exciting and creative work. My latest and first piece I wanted to share with you this year is my work on some looks with award winning hairdresser Marcus King of King and I.
To create the looks for these images I wanted to keep the focus on a very natural appearance as it was all about hair that Marcus has created for this photoshoot. One of the images for example I wanted to really showcase the models natural freckles and have caught some behind the scenes showcasing me using...
I shared some images on Instagram and got a huge response with the look I had created using products by Liz Earle. One Instagram follower was inspired so much she created the look herself by being inspired by the images.
Here are the images I had shared and wanted to list the products which I used by Liz Earle to create the look yourself which is perfect for the summertime, weekends, holidays look or even for a first date !

Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion
Skin Repair Moisturiser for Normal to Combination skin

A while ago I was approached to create a look using Honey for Noctis Magazine.
I did use real honey instead of a skincare product to create the images shown within the magazine.
On the skin I used
Steamcream
Concealer - Amazing Concealer
Freckles - Liz Earle Pencil in Dark Brown and Golden Bronze
Whilst writing this blog I was thinking about the use of honey in skincare and make-up products. Honey has wonderful nurturing, repair and healing properties to the skin and has been used since Cleopatra claimed to have used it all those centuries ago.
I have listed my top 3 must...
I am thrilled to see my latest work on the front cover of a luxury magazine called La Di Da.
The shoot was arranged by myself and a talented up and coming photographer Rebecca Elizabeth Tate. We wanted to create an autumnal feel to the shoot to involve all aspects from the colour of the hair to the choice of make-up.
Hope you enjoy these images and I have given you some ideas on wearing some vibrant colours during these dreary grey winter months.
Contact me via jo@makeupbyjo.co.uk if you would like any further information on the make-up I have used.

A couple of weeks' ago I had the opportunity to work with a photographer, Tracy Kidd Photography, and really wanted to try out my Liz Earle Sheer Lip Gloss.
I normally find that lip glosses can usually leave a sticky feel on the lips and even can get stuck in long hair!!!
During the studio shoot I wanted to create a “wet look” on the lips with inspiration taken from the days of 70s disco, the famous Studio 54 to disco diva Donna Summer.
In this shoot I used the Liz Earle Sheer Lip Gloss in Water Lily number 12 and I must say this is a “must have” lip gloss to purchase to wear...
About a month ago I was given a selection of products to try from Liz Earle. In the past I have tried the award winning Cleanse & Polish with the muslin cloth but hadn’t really tried anything else from the range. I was, therefore, really keen to start using my Liz Earle products.
Liz Earle co founded the range with Kim Buckland in 1995. Liz Earle is an award winning Great British brand with its Head Office located on the Isle of Wight. Liz Earle excels in excellent customer service, product research and finding the finest ingredients for the range.
What were my thoughts about...
In my previous weekly blogs I have talked about my one to one make-up lessons that I offer to clients.
I really wanted to share with you my experience with a client whom I met for a one to one make-up lesson recently.
When I met this lovely lady she was so nervous and shy as she explained she didn’t bring her make-up bag with her as she didn’t own one and had never worn make-up ever…. my client is 58!
So my first question was why now? What has changed? How do you want the make-up to look and feel?
She replied “it is my daughter's wedding this year and also I feel that now at...
