For one of my recent weddings back in the summer I got to enjoy the change of scenery from my usual venues as I spent the morning at Newton Hall with my lovely bride Helen prepping her for the magical day ahead. She opted for a classic bridal look with a dramatic emphasis on the eyes using soft winged liner and false lashes to really add a dark allure. With the addition of a beautiful wavy updo by Saks Hair & Beauty, Helen was looking picture perfect and ready to enjoy her wedding feeling like her best self.
I left feeling super pleased with what a pleasant morning I had with Helen and her bridal...
What's better than one wedding? How about two? Posie and Harry took getting married to the next level with their epic two day celebration of their love. The first day consisted of a very beautiful and traditional church wedding, only to be followed on the second day with a huge party which even included a military presence from the Queen's Guards. It's safe to say this couple really know how to celebrate in style, so to be included as part of the team pulling this day together was a real honour.
The vibe of Posie's makeup was really about creating a natural emphasis, an understated no makeup...
I first chatted to Danielle around the end of March 2020, back whilst we were all still in Lockdown 1, which feels soooo long ago now. If only we knew then what we do now! Anyone else remember thinking it might of all blown over in a couple months at the most? Over a year later, with a lot of patience and careful planning, Danielle and Benjamin were thrilled to finally tie the knot on the 1st of July 2021.
With original plans of a romantic Italian destination wedding, Danielle quickly shifted gears as the pandemic took hold and wisely chose an equally desirable second option, the Fig House...
Cups of tea. The ritual of making a cup of tea, the moments sitting down to relax for 5 minutes or so, it's one of the simplest but most rewarding aspects of life.
Every emotion I have in life, a cup of tea always saves the day for me. If I'm happy, we can celebrate with one, if I'm sad it can cheer me right up. To have that warm little brew in a cup means a lot to me, so much I even have a fear of badly made cups of tea, Tepidophobia! Fears aside I am exceptionally fussy on how the tea is made. After all this is something I take great pride and joy from, so I like it to be done...
One of the many amazing aspects of my business it that I get to meet some really interesting people. It's such a wonderful opportunity to sit one to one with talented and brilliant humans to have a chit chat with them whilst I create their make-up looks ready for the day ahead. I've lost count of the admirable women I have been fortunate enough to work with, but working with Hilary to create new headshots was certainly up there as one of the most inspiring women in business!
I met Hilary Dunne many years ago and of course we clicked straight away, both of us being strong willed business women...
As the nation prepared for lockdown number 3 back at the end of 2020, I was attending my last wedding of the year. With all the cancellations, uncertainty and moving of dates this lovely couple luckily squeezed in this gorgeous micro wedding to tie the knot just in time before weddings were taken out of the equation again for a number of months thanks to the pandemic.
It was the morning of the 4th of November 2020 and the sun was shining as if it were a good omen of the day to come whilst I met with bride to be Helen. We sat and chatted about the excitements...
Over the easter weekend you might have been busy soaking up a bit of this spring sun we are getting here and there, or you might have noticed super fresh looking faces in the Daily Mail Femmail section. It was great to be invited to work on this article doing Jo Coan's make-up as I got to come see her fantastic display in person. After what has felt like a dragging and long dark winter especially this year, all being cooped up inside. To get out and see such bright and beautiful local displays and another example of fun creative ideas that are popping up from lockdown. You can see the article here...
Last week's blog we were jumping forward in time to AW21 with some Stila for designer Freya Lillie but this week we're throwing it all the way back to August 2019 for Maria and Sean's wedding. I couldn't help but want to share these shots by the always wonderful and talented Margarita Hope Photography that really capture the cool calm and joyful energy of their wedding day.
Maria and Sean are a young couple who you can really tell are truly, madly and deeply in love with each other that the happiness of their day was totally contagious. On the morning of Maria was super calm but still...
This week's blog is something super fun, it's so cool to look back over at the final product now it's been released. Recently I joined the team over at END. for a shoot paying homage to the phoenix-like resurgence of the OG Nike Dunk throughout 2020.
They've opted to use a yearbook style format to cast each pair in a manner that emulates the varisty nostalgia they so deserve as the 'Class of 2020'. After all 35 years in the making this franchise is still going from strength to strength continuing its legacy and the rich culture behind them. For me my task was to work along side the production...
After a suprise proposal at Middleton Lodge it was only right that on 12th of July 2019 Helen and Jo returned for their fabulous wedding reception after a traditional church ceremony at the nearby St Michael & All Angels in Middleton Tyas. These pictures by MIKI Photo + Film Studio really capture the essence of the exact day they wanted, a relaxed but elegant and traditional british summer wedding with minimalistic yet sophisticated decor using a white palette with hints of orange and fuschia florals.
For Helen's make-up we wanted a timeless glam that complimented the gorgeous styling...
