Capturing what makes me happy with photographer Eddy Maynard

Cups of tea. The ritual of making a cup of tea, the moments sitting down to relax for 5 minutes or so, it’s one of the simplest but most rewarding aspects of life.

Every emotion I have in life, a cup of tea always saves the day for me. If I’m happy, we can celebrate with one, if I’m sad it can cheer me right up. To have that warm little brew in a cup means a lot to me, so much I even have a fear of badly made cups of tea, Tepidophobia! Fears aside I am exceptionally fussy on how the tea is made. After all this is something I take great pride and joy from, so I like it to be done right. If you’re looking to put a smile on my face my favourites are Lady Grey, Masala Chai and Rooibos tea brewed from freshly made tea leaves and all served in a china cup.

Why am I even discussing this today? These lovely photographs of me documenting my love of tea are part of a photo series by talented photographer Eddy Maynard. He’s asking people “What Makes You Happy?” as he’s on a quest to document the variety of things in life that can spark joy for people and bring purpose to their lives. Naturally I chose tea, it’s the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the question, but you should really go check out the rest of the series to see all the wonderful answers people had!

The end goal for Eddy for this project is to create a book of images and stories about what makes people happy. A little page turner that will lift peoples spirits and share the good vibes, all whilst donating the profits to mental health charities. I am so delighted to have taken part!

My Make-up

Fancy a close-up? I figured before I had the professional images taken I snap a few quick selfies of my makeup look to share with you guys! Seeing as tea was the main focus of the shoot, here’s a little moment giving the make-up its own limelight. These are taken in the natural light without any filters so you can really get an idea of how gorgeous these shades are.
