Last week I was so excited to receive a parcel in the post from the amazing company REN Skincare. As soon as it arrived I eagerly opened the box to take a look at what delightful products they had sent me to use on some of my major up and coming photo shoots in my diary.
I have been using REN Skincare for many years and often have found myself highly recommending it to my clients, models and the I’ve worked with celebrities through out my career. What is really significant to me and a lot of the people I recommend them to is the ethos of the brand which is all about saying ‘no to harsh chemicals’, ‘no to animal cruelty’ and ‘no to waste’ on this amazing planet we live on. The high quality of their products speaks for itself, but the added peace of mind that what you are using is not only kind to your skin but also the environment is becoming more and more important to me and the people I work with.
One item in particular from the package that I thought was really great wasn’t even a skincare product but a metal reusable straw! You might think it’s just a straw that isn’t that great, however it came with a really powerful message that read:
“It’s only a straw” said 8 billion people
The quote really struck a chord and has stuck with me over the last few days. If we each individually thought about it this way and every person on the planet took the time to reduce their usage of single use plastics, even on just a straw. Just imagine what a huge difference it could make in contributing to keep our planet clean from waste!
Another item from the package I was excited about is the The Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash.
This body wash has has won many awards including the Beauty Shortlist Award 2018, so understandably I had to immediately leap into the shower and try it! It truly did feel like an awakening of my senses and makes you feel awake, refreshed and ready for the day ahead. In keeping with their ethos as well I was happy to see the bottle is made of 100% recycled materials, 20% of which were reclaimed ocean plastics.
These are definitely some good last minute bits to stick on your Christmas wish list!
I really wanted to focus on talking about these two products today as they truly captured me personally and got me thinking about how we should really support brands that are trying to help the planet. However over the next few weeks I will be writing more about the other items in my parcel and some other new products I have been trying on my up and coming work.
I am recently back from working on an editorial shoot in Morocco’s gorgeous Palais Namaskar during which I really enjoyed experimenting with these new products and I can’t wait to show you more!
Disclaimer
I cant guarantee that all of the make-up and skincare products I recommend will suit you. I only use products I personally think are good having tried them on myself and my clients but everyone’s skin is different and it’s possible to be allergic to anything. Wherever possible, test products out on yourself before purchasing.
