Oliver Smith is an ultra talented writer, director and cinematographer as well as a good friend of mine so today I wanted to have a quick chat about his latest film Spider & Fly and how you can support the project. Using Crowdfunder Ollie is currently raising the funds to get this passion project of the ground and into our screens for your viewing pleasure. If he reaches his goal or hopefully even beyond, I am super excited to say I will have the privilege of doing the make-up! So of course you are thinking I am gonna be a bit biased right? He’s my friend after all and I am excited about the work, but I will say I only ever work on things I believe in. Think big ‘Airplane!‘ vibes for this story following the life’s challenges thrown at private eye I.B. Pillock. If you haven’t already figured out from our leading mans name, it’s a satirical comedy that will be sure to be packed with puns and clever plays on words in the detectives absurd world. With an evident niche in our film industry for the oxymoron that is some good lighthearted intellectual stupidity, film maker Ollie describes the project himself as a comedy that serves as a tonic for the sarcastic and cynical times we live in and I certainly agree. It’s been a tough old year 2020, especially for those in the creative industries, so if you’ve got a few quid to spare and fancy putting it towards something incredible then this is the crowd-under for you!
