This Spring Ruby & Oscar are feeling the elements as their latest campaign for the upcoming season embraces the four essential facets of life. This was such a fun concept to jump into, I knew exactly how I wanted to lean into the style from the moment their Head of Marketing sent me the brief.
So whether you're going with the flow like Water, down to Earth, getting all Fired up or you're feeling Airy and ethereal this campaign has all the matching makeup and jewellery combo's you could wish for.
When thinking about how to represent each of the elements I knew I wanted makeup that would cover...
I love it when stylists from the fashion industry recommend me to brides for their wedding makeup! Specifically this time it was so fun because they knew their friend soon to be wed, Heather, would really want a modern, fashion forward approach to her look rather than current trends.
Heather came to our trial armed with the knowledge of what she wanted, with plenty of references on hand and we quickly built a makeup style she loved. From taking notes from makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes for her glowing complexion to bringing in some Kate Moss vibes for defined cheekbones we filled out her face...
Hot off the plane from Ethiopia, I arrived in Newcastle for what I'm dubbing as the wedding of the year so far!
After working around the clock on a photoshoot in the swealtering heat of Addis Ababa, it was a quick turn around to get back to the UK and into wedding mode but wow was it worth it. I'm not sure words can really describe how beautiful Isabella and Dom's wedding was. A true representation of their love for one and other, their superstar team of suppliers transformed Newcastle Cathedral into an etheral, magical and cosy space to host their celebrations.
Having secretly got married the day before...
The Hepburn vibes are back! This time it's for QP Jewellers and their amazing summer campaign, ready to showcase 2023's delicate gemstone pieces that bring a summery elegance to any look. You could say I'm on a bit of a roll with my Audrey inspiration right now after my work for the Belle Bridal Issue 26 cover, she truly honed and defined the perfect classy makeup look that had the perfect little touch of attitude. That's why of course this look had to keep the pop of drama in the cat eye eyliner flick, using Stila's Stay All Day Eyeliner for that sharp definition.
Taking a slightly different...
Viva Magenta is all the rage for 2023 according to the official Pantone Colour institute and this shoot for Ruby & Oscar's hasn't shied away from leaning into the pink craze. As colour of the year, it's here to embody a fearless empowerment that's unconventional yet captivating. The makeup on this shoot had to be on par with the bold statement these summer gemstones were making, that's where my latest obession with Lisa Eldridge's range comes in.
The True Velvet Lip combo of Lipstick and Gloss in Carnival was exactly the striking pink I was looking for to represent the adventurous spirit of Pantone's...
Spring, spring, spring! That's what comes to mind when I think of the delicate floral fantasy created for Belle Bridal Magazine's Issue 26 Cover shoot. You've seen the magic between the glossy pages that we created for the editoral shoot I worked on showcasing all things glowing and bronzed, now it's time for the breath of fresh bridal air that is the front page!
The awesome team set the studio up with an unreal fresh floral arch by Wild and Wonderful Flowers that was paralleled in beauty by the Badgley Mischka gowns carrying through the same hues of ivory and baby blues that adorned the arrangement....
What started as just a holiday to New Zeland many years ago now, turned into a whirlwind love story for bride Helen who was struck by cupids arrow when she met Peter on her vacation. Since that moment their love has blossomed, with Helen moving her whole career out to New Zeland to start her life with her man. Then March the 4th rolls around, and Helen and Peter bring New Zeland to North Yorkshire for an intimate private wedding in the quaint and cosy Fig House and its flourishing Walled Farden at Middleton Lodge.
Many long distance journeys have been made in the name of this romantic story,...
Lauren and I met many moon cycles ago at work when I was doing her makeup and she was just starting out as a model. I'm sure you'll be able to tell from her stunning wedding images she's very good at her job. From the beginning I always remember Lauren saying to me "Jo when I get married I want you to be there on the day creating the makeup”, which is honestly such a compliment considering within our industry Lauren has travelled the world working with countless amazing makeup artists on epic campaings, but she chose me for her special day and it was an absolute pleasure!
When I first met lauren...
Natalie's style and vision felt so clear as we finished our trial and I looked back down to my notes. Detailed descriptions of each feature left no stone unturned and I knew exactly all the perfect tools for the job to bring this beautiful look to life for her. When her wedding morning came around we got to work using the holy trifecta of skin prep products because it's the most important step for a successful look.
Waso Quick Matte Moisturizer left Natalie's skin hydrated but oil-free, a key step for those hot weather weddings. Ariane Poole's Pore Perfecting Face Primer to double down...
The 29th of July is more fondly known in the make-up world as National Lipstick Day, so what better than to have had my work featured online for Flanelle Magazine on that day! The work was created in collaboration with one of my all time favourite creatives Lee Scullion to showcase the results that can be achieved using the Jo Leversuch Brush Collection from Untitled No 1.
These up close and personal beauty shots leave nothing to hide, but only bold beauty on display. The skin prepped with SUQQU's Aquafons range allowed for the Ariane Poole Ultimate Face Tint to seamlessly melt...
