Last week I got the chance to have a play with a brand I’ve never used before, Diego Dalla Palma, so I’ve decided to write a short review of I felt about each piece too share with you. I was super excited to dive into the products from this company as I know they are reputed for being the intersection between scientific expertise and modern Italian glamour. This along with being a brand that is certified free from animal testing I thought what could there possibly be not to love. Overall whilst not everything was to my liking, a lot of it was and I’m excited to use the products more in the future!
The frosted glass packaging has a weighty yet sophisticated feel to it, i’m always happy to see glass being used rather than plastic as it’s better for the environment. I found just 2 pumps is plenty for a full face. Coverage was medium yet still created a more uniform complexion hiding red areas of the skin and blemishes reasonably well. It didn’t perform quite so good at covering blue-tinged areas like the under eye, but perhaps their Geisha Lift concealer I am yet to try would tackle this issue. The finish is quite shiny dewy, perhaps too shiny for some without powder, but something we use a lot here at Make-up by Jo! I’m unsure of a lifting effect but pores do appear more refined, smoothed and “tightened”. It has been comfortable to wear all day however it did wear off on blemish areas after a few hours of wear.
Make-up Studio Matt Eye Shadow
These single pan eye shadows come in sleek little square plastic packaging that feels of decent quality to protect the shadow inside. The square shape makes them easy to stack and store. I used the shades Marsala 156 and Nude Pink 161 to create a smoked-out duo tonal eye shadow look for the day to test them. There was very little fall out during application, but the matt pigment does take a few applications to get a bold solid colour. However I like this as it means you can create a lighter look, or build up to a heavier one with a few more swipes. The two tones blended seamlessly together and were good to work with. Unfortunately the pigment faded slightly after a few hours of wear, so don’t forget primer.
Another sleek packaging square for easy storage and slightly cocoa scented which is a nice touch. I found this was super pigmented with only a few brush swipes so only a little product is needed. It blended out beautifully and the warm tone really brought a healthy and radiant glow to the skin. The product lasted well on my face all day too, all round a very good product that I’m excited to use again.
Upon opening this mascara I noticed the wand spokes look well separated with no clumps forming on the brush either which is always a good sign. It combed through the lashes really well and leaving neatly well-coated lashes. After one swipe it is rather subtle but a few more and it builds into a fairly decent longer lash. This is makes this product nice and flexible for use on both understated and dramatic looks.
The ‘Skin Colour Eye Pencil’ was great for tightlining they eye with to create the illusion of a wider eye. This is often done with a white pencil but the nude allowed for a much more natural understated look. The ‘Matita occhi Eye Pencil’ was also good for a precise long lasting liner that leaves a good pigment without any crumbling on the pencil like some other pencil liners do. It was great for make-up looks for a bit less drama than a black eye liner, or even for adding a little extra definition to a dark brow. Whilst the pencils had good staying power throughout the day I think this came at the expense of not being able to smudge them out very well for smokier effects.
Semitransparent Shiny Lipstick In Pink Salmon 144
This Lipstick created a shiny lip and has a significant and noticeable plumping effect. This will be down to it being packed with active agents such as collagen and hyaluronic microspheres in order to create this gorgeous full lip look. However I found there wasn’t any colour pay off and wasn’t the most comfortable on the lip for all day wear. Perhaps if you have a more neutral natural lip colour this will work great for you.
Semitransparent Glossy Lipstick In Burgandy 72
Similar to the other semitransparent lipstick before, this was even shinier and also very plumping. A slightly higher colour pay off but still not as much as I would expect.
Nudissimo Lipstick in Give Me Nude 204
This lipstick was great! It applies a solid pigmented colour in a single swipe and feels moisturising and creamy on the lips. There was no bleeding through out the day with out lip liner but did wear off a little with eating. I am pleased as for a lipstick on the slightly matt side it remains a soft feeling on the lips which can be rare with matt shades.

I cant guarantee that all of the make-up and skincare products I recommend will suit you. I only use products I personally think are good having tried them on myself and my clients but everyone’s skin is different and it’s possible to be allergic to anything. Wherever possible, test products out on yourself before purchasing.
