It's been a few years since I last blogged about I’m Still Ethan, a short film I created the makeup for a few years ago, but it's finally out! Not only was I the set MUA, but the eagle eyed amongst you will spot my brief cameo role. Having had met writer and producer Phoebe Lorenz on another film set a while before hand, she filled me in on this project and the fundraising efforts and I was immediately sold on the opportunity to be a part of it.
The makeup was minimal but complex, changing through out the film to represent part of the development of the characters along their journey. Some scenes...
I feel like mother nature has been teasing us with little previews of spring between these weeks of rain and it's truly got me day dreaming of those longer warmer days. To get you in the mood for spring too I'm sharing this soft, delicate campaign for the latest QP Jewellers launch. Fresh for Spring 2024 they're painting an airy pastel dreamscape with this shoot and the makeup turned out perfect for any brides thinking of a light seasonal look!
I loved the close up shots showing the diffuse blending that gives such an etheral, romantic feel. Creating a healthy skinbase layer is essential for this...
It's a short list of makeup products today, because this bride was all about natural beauty and that meant keeping things simple. It was the perfect way to kick off the summer in style as June rolled around for Victoria and James' wedding at Halton Grove, Northumberland. This fun couple know how to throw a party and Victoria's makeup was a celebration in itself of her afforementioned natural beauty.
Her eyes were a dazzling shade of green that when paired with the warm-russet and metallic copper tones of Charlotte Tilbury's Copper Charge eyeliner, shone like emeralds. Bringing that same...
Spring is almost here and it's time to get in the mood for the fast approaching wedding season, I've got the perfect throw back for it! A true summertime wedding from 2022, Bride Julia and her Groom Christopher had a traditional ceremony at a beautiful local church before continuing the celebrations at Wynyard Hall.
It was a bright and sunny morning and Julia was beaming equally with nerves and excitement as we prepared her for the day of romance ahead. The brief was to create a makeup look to enhance the elegance of the already wonderful bride, taking vision from the delicate bouquet...
I love working with the dynamic mother daughter duo Annie and Helen, the passionate team behind RENNE Jewellery. They create a plethora of unique designs and timeless pieces that were a joy to compliment with my flawless makeup style.
These images are by Gasp Photography are absolutely beautiful and naturally my favourite piece is of course the Necklace and Earing set adorned with stars.
Building on the timeless jewellery style I created a classic look that calls for the usuals! For the skinbase I used Ariane Poole Cosmetics layered over a supple moisturised...
The owner and driving force of Crossan Beauty Nicola Spoke to me years ago about joining her in Southern Ireland for some makeup training workshops. Of course several lockdowns postponed that idea severely, however in that time my passion project come business Untitled No 1 was gearing up for its first launch. After lots of discussion with Nicola we decided to end 2022 on a high with an amazing workshop as the perfect opportunity to introduce the Jo Leversuch Brush Range firsthand. These high quality synthetic hair brushes designed for both makeup and skincare deserve a public launch!
So...
In celebration of Steamcream which launched 15 years ago in Japan, I thought it was only fitting I took the time to write another blog here about one of my 'must have' products in my makeup kit, and how happy I am to see them flourishing a decade and a half on.
As you've probably heard me say, when a lot of the people I work with think of my name they also probably think of Steamcream - at this point we're synonymous. It's always funny hearing the models always saying “ Jo we know it's you, we can smell the Steamcream!".
To commemorate their 15 years in business...
It's time to let you into a little bit more of my work which doesn't relate to weddings. I love keeping up to date across all avenues in the make-up industry to ensure I'm always giving my brides the best that they can get. I've worked in this field for such a long time now and it never bores me, there's always fresh ideas, concepts and products arriving in unexpected corners of the make-up world and I am so grateful my varied work has given me such a wealth of experiences that I can then pass on to my brides.
I've posted about this brand here before but if you're new here then let me introduce...
This week I'm sharing with you my work with END. to mark the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1. They were celebrating in style with the 'La Ville-Lumière' release especially for the anniversary and had me on board to create a look for the shoot. They had asked for a soft matte skin base which was perfect play off the harsh urban environment and the energy of these effervescent pastel sneakers.
It was nice to mix things up after playing with a lot of glow and shine in my work lately, so I was excited I got to do a more neutral matte effect. I achieved this by prepping the skin with a delicate...
Sometimes the pictures say more than my words ever could, and that's how I feel looking back over photo's from The Northern Wedding Show with Belle Bridal. So I will keep it short and sweet with just a mention of how fantastic each of the make-up sponsors were! It was an amazing weekend to be part of as always, each year the event comes around and I continue to be honored with creating make-up looks for the catwalk shows between manning my own stall. This year with the backing of three fantastic make-up sponsors the catwalk looked better than ever before.
Steamcream provided us with...
