I am thrilled to see my latest work on the front cover of a luxury magazine called La Di Da.
The shoot was arranged by myself and a talented up and coming photographer Rebecca Elizabeth Tate. We wanted to create an autumnal feel to the shoot to involve all aspects from the colour of the hair to the choice of make-up.
Hope you enjoy these images and I have given you some ideas on wearing some vibrant colours during these dreary grey winter months.
Contact me via jo@makeupbyjo.co.uk if you would like any further information on the make-up I have used.

If you follow my other weekly blogs on my website or follow me on Facebook you will see that I am a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury as a make-up artist but also of her own make-up range which is just divine!
Christmas is upon us soon and I wanted to take the opportunity in this blog to share with you one of her limited editions: Luxury Eyeshadow called Fallen Angel.
Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows are so easy to use and a sheer delight to apply. The texture of the powder is soft and the pigmentation colour true to what you see in the palette. Fallen Angel is a mixture of golden pearl, antique...
I had to blog this post as Queen Bea (my Bengal Kitten) has recently joined the brand 'Make-up by Jo' and whilst doing some research I came across this new collaboration with Shu Uemura
Karl Lagerfeld's cat 'Bonjour Choupette' is his feline muse and she is one of the most famous cats in the fashion world.
Choupette is the first cat to create a make-up collection with Shu Uemura.
The range includes furry lashes, eyeshadows, lipsticks, and creams all with the cute images of herself on the packaging. The prices start from £17.50 and was recently launched on 3rd November.

Since seeing the recent images of wedding of Amal Alamuddin wedding to George Clooney. The inspiration of wearing lipstick has certainly come back in "vogue" again. The look is so chic and timeless and can change the way you feel and add a "red carpet " look to something you are wearing.
I just love the simplicity of how a red lipstick can look and the images I have included below for you I think say it all!!!! This look is perfect for the autumnal season ahead to add a boost of colour to your face.
This look was created using Rimmel Kate Moss number 22 lipstick

People that know me are aware that I am a huge fan and supporter of those furry black and white striped insect bodies called bees.
You may be shouting out as you are reading this not bees, bees sting, I am allergic to them, they are annoying why Bees.?
Bees are essential to our planet and our lives on a daily basis. A 3rd of our food comes from the pollination of bees and these furry insects are a critical part to the food, plants and herbs on our planet.
30 years' ago in 1984 Burt’s Bees was founded in Maine Canada by Roxanne Quimby and Burt Shavitz. Humble beginnings from selling beeswax...
I am a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Double Wear range from the foundations, concealers, powders, eyeliners to the lipsticks but during these warm summer weeks the Double Wear Foundation even Double Wear Foundation Light can be too much for the skin.
Estee Lauder Double Wear have, however, brought out their All-Day Glow BB Moisture make-up which is fabulous for these hot summer times.
What is a BB cream - this is what is quoted by Wikipedia “BB Cream stands for blemish blam, blemish base, beblesh balm ( apparently because of the trademark in Korea on the word “ blemish” ) and in Western...
In my previous weekly blogs I have talked about my one to one make-up lessons that I offer to clients.
I really wanted to share with you my experience with a client whom I met for a one to one make-up lesson recently.
When I met this lovely lady she was so nervous and shy as she explained she didn’t bring her make-up bag with her as she didn’t own one and had never worn make-up ever…. my client is 58!
So my first question was why now? What has changed? How do you want the make-up to look and feel?
She replied “it is my daughter's wedding this year and also I feel that now at...
I get asked all the time how do I keep my make-up on? what primer should I use?
In my make-up kit I do have a varied range of primers for different skin types but recently I came across a wonderful new cosmetic range from California in United States of America. Hourglass are renowned for their superb product range with exceptional staying power and when searching through all their amazing products I discovered Hourglass Veil Mineral Powder SPF 15 Primer.
This primer is pure luxury which makes the skin feel divine. The reason I am writing about Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is the main key factor...
In my make-up kit I always carry a make-up camouflage range called Dermacolor Camouflage by Kryolan.
As a make-up artist you meet so many people with different skin types and concerns with their skins from scars, pimples, rosacea, acne, dark pigmentation and tattoos. In some situations my clients require these concerns or even tattoos to be covered up for a special occasion.
Over the years I have helped my clients with unfortunate black eyes from a severe accident, operation scars from surgery, pigmentation marks, rosacea and tattoo coverage.
This is where...
A few weeks ago I had a phone call out the blue from Jen and Hils who were getting married in April 2014 at Middleton Lodge as they wanted to have their make-up applied on their wedding day. I had met Jen and her partner Hils the year prior at a wedding fayre at Middleton Lodge.
In April 2014 the law had changed for same sex couples and now they had the chance to change from civil ceremony wedding to actually getting married on their wedding day. I am not sure but I think Jen and Hils were the first same sex couple to get married in North Yorkshire on 9th April 2014.
Due to the time scale...
