What would it mean to you to back beauty? Usually the answer might be going to your local beauty salon for a treatment, to hire a make-up artist for an event, maybe it’d be to go get some advice from your nearest beauty counter and buy a few bits while you’re there or perhaps it would even be hiring us for commercial work. Due to governmental restrictions after COVID 19, none of that is happening right now and the people in the industry are suffering.

Enter Caroline Hirons, our beacon of light in this really uncertain time for the beauty community. Famously known for her incredible skincare expertise but now currently known for taking current matters in to her own hands to launch Beauty Backed, an initiative to rally support for the beauty industry. After around half a year of zero work and watching countless other industries go to their jobs in the mean time, it’s has been hard not to feel that the world of beauty is not valued by the UK government. Some of us are starting to really feel the financial strain and make ends meet, some are struggling to cope mentally, these things alone or even worse combined mean the outlook is pretty bleak and potentially unsafe.

How can you help? I’m glad you asked! Firstly Caroline has set up a Go Fund Me that you can contribute to if you are in a comfortable position to do so. It’s already smashed its original targets but there’s still a long way to go if we want to support as many of those struggling in the industry as we can. Not to fret if you wanna help out but are also are in a bit of a financial bind yourself, another way to help is to sign the petition. It’s important we rally together to let the government know how valuable we are and your voice can really help us to do that. As a cherry on the cake if you’re really feeling generous post about the campaign on social media, tell your mates, your mum, your neighbour, your neighbours mum’s cousin, you get the gist. Lets come together as a community and show those that are struggling within beauty that we care about them, lets back beauty!
