Having worked with Ruby and Oscar for many years now, they know they can rely on me to bring only the best tools and tricks to set to create the perfect no-makeup makeup style that they love to feature so often in their campaigns. It’s not beyond the scope to sometimes play with a little colour to mimic the tones of their stunning jewellery, but for the most part it’s all about the au naturale and letting their pieces be the shining star of each photo.
Lucky for you, I’m condensing my decades of learning to share with you my biggest tip of all, and the best part is it’s really simple and it’s pretty much free! If we want our skin to look natural, we need to nuture it, that’s why the technique is all in the skin preparation. Before any makeup, pick out some of your skincare faves that you know sit nicely under your makeup. Think hydrating mists like the Weleda Cactus Hydrating Facial Mist or the Delilah Wake Up Radiant Mist, these are two that I utilised on models Nyah & Mia for a hydrating and awakening boost. Now’s the secret part – massage! Spend a couple minutes creating a mini massage on the face and neck area to really encourage the blood flood and bring the skin to life.
It probably sounds like a lot of skincare, but you can trial out different levels of the approach to see what works best for you! It doesn’t need to be all or nothing, and if you give it a go with the products you already love at home then it’s such a simple and cost effective away to put a professional spin on your makeup look.
